Vice President Kashim Shettima has said Nigeria is ready to strengthen bilateral relations with the Republic of Poland in critical sectors of the economy, including defence, digital economy and agriculture. Shettima stated this on Thursday while receiving the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs of Poland, Dr Krzysztof Gawkowski, during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Vice President said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has implemented major economic reforms aimed at unlocking the country’s economic potential and creating a more investor-friendly environment. According to him, the Federal Government has liberalised the foreign exchange market, removed fuel subsidy and harmonised tax laws to encourage business growth and foreign investment. He added that Poland has shown remarkable strength in areas such as ship-building, maritime economy, defence industries and digital technology.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Dr Gawkowski, described Nigeria as Poland’s most strategic partner in Africa, citing the country’s demographic strength and technological potential. He expressed optimism that the visit would open a new phase of cooperation between both countries in the areas of economy, innovation and digitalisation.
