Tinubu Hails NDLEA Over Major Breakthrough Against International Drug Syndicate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following the successful dismantling of a Nigerian–Mexican drug trafficking network and a sophisticated illicit drug production operation uncovered in Nigeria.

The commendation follows a detailed operation led by the NDLEA under the leadership of Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), which was executed after weeks of intelligence-led surveillance and coordination with international partners.

The operation reportedly resulted in the arrest of several foreign nationals and local collaborators, as well as the seizure of illicit drugs and precursor chemicals valued at over $360 million.

President Tinubu praised the agency for what he described as its professionalism, resilience, and courage in confronting organised drug trafficking networks, urging operatives not to relent in their efforts to rid the country of drug-related crimes.

He noted that West Africa continues to face growing pressure from international drug cartels using the region as a transit route for cocaine, synthetic drugs, and other illicit substances bound for Europe and North America.

The President warned that drug trafficking poses a serious threat to national security and youth development, stressing that the fight against narcotics requires collective responsibility from all Nigerians.

He called on citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information that could help disrupt criminal networks operating within communities.

Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening security institutions and ensuring that those involved in drug-related crimes are brought to justice.
