The spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has described the departure of prominent political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, from the party as a setback, but not a fatal blow.
Reacting to the development, Abdullahi stated that while the exits are disappointing, they do not threaten the overall stability or future prospects of the party.
“Personally, I’m not happy that Peter Obi and Kwankwaso left ADC, but in a way, it’s a bit of a relief. Is this a setback? The answer is yes. Is it a fatal blow? The answer is no,” he said.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of future elections, with analysts suggesting that such high-profile defections could impact party strength but may also create room for internal restructuring within the ADC.
Party insiders maintain that efforts are underway to consolidate support and reposition the ADC despite the recent departures.
