The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 Bauchi State governorship race.
Pate made the announcement in a video message delivered in Hausa and shared widely on social media. He said the decision followed deep reflection and extensive consultations.
According to him, his choice was driven by a desire to continue serving Nigeria at the national level, stressing that he still has significant contributions to make to the country’s development and the advancement of Northern Nigeria.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters in Bauchi State for their encouragement and loyalty, noting that their support would not be forgotten.
Although stepping away from the governorship contest, Pate pledged to remain active in the political process, including supporting the emergence of credible candidates during party primaries and working toward the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.
He also urged aspirants to remain patient, united, and supportive of whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate.
Pate, who has previously shown interest in the state’s top political office, said he remains committed to public service and national development.
