The Federal Government has called on religious leaders and traditional rulers across the country to promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and unity among citizens, especially in view of rising social tensions in some parts of the country.
The appeal was made in Abuja, where government officials emphasized the critical role of clerics and monarchs in shaping public opinion, maintaining harmony, and preventing the escalation of conflict within communities.
They noted that both religious and traditional institutions remain trusted voices at the grassroots level and must continue to use their influence to preach peace, discourage extremism, and foster mutual respect among diverse groups.
The government further assured that it remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen national cohesion, while urging stakeholders to work collectively in sustaining Nigeria’s stability and development.
