President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, on his election as Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Fifth Committee on Budget and Administration.
In a congratulatory message, the President described the election as a significant achievement for Nigeria, noting that it comes at a critical period when the United Nations is implementing major financial reforms and institutional restructuring aimed at improving accountability, efficiency and long-term sustainability.
President Tinubu said the appointment reflects Ambassador Ibrahim’s extensive experience in public service, diplomacy, business leadership and governance. He highlighted Ibrahim’s previous service as a member of the Senate Committee on Budget and Appropriation and Chairman of Inter-Parliamentary Relations, describing him as well-positioned to provide the strategic leadership required for the role.
The President also commended Ibrahim’s academic and professional background in law, international taxation and business administration, saying his expertise would contribute meaningfully to fiscal management and institutional effectiveness within the UN system.
Expressing confidence in the ambassador’s ability to excel in the position, Tinubu said Ibrahim’s commitment to excellence would continue to bring pride to Nigeria while advancing the broader objectives of the United Nations.
He congratulated the ambassador on the achievement and the confidence reposed in him by the international community.
