Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is actively working to secure the release of pupils, students, teachers and other victims abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Shettima gave the assurance during activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration in Abuja, stating that the Federal Government remains committed to tackling insecurity and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
According to the Vice President, President Tinubu has been engaging security agencies and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the safe return of those still in captivity. He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue supporting the efforts of security personnel.
The reassurance comes amid growing concern over the recent abduction in Oyo State, which has drawn widespread condemnation and renewed calls for stronger security measures.
The Federal Government has maintained that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
