President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killing of 12 travellers in Plateau State, describing the act as barbaric and unacceptable. Among the victims were the father and brother of a groom returning from a wedding celebration. Several others sustained injuries in the attack.

The travellers, who were journeying from Zaria in Kaduna State to Jos, Plateau State, were ambushed and brutally murdered in what has been widely described as a senseless act of violence.

Reacting to the tragic news, President Tinubu called on security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Police Force, to collaborate with intelligence units and other law enforcement bodies to identify, arrest, and prosecute all those responsible. He emphasized that such a heinous crime must not go unpunished.

In a firm statement, the President also directed the Plateau State Government to take bold and decisive action in addressing the recurring cycles of violence within the state. He stressed the need for greater coordination between state authorities and security agencies to investigate the attack and ensure it serves as a deterrent to future incidents.

“Freedom of movement is a fundamental right for all Nigerians. We will not tolerate any attempt by individuals or groups to undermine that right through acts of violence and fear,” President Tinubu stated.

He appealed for calm among the populace, reassuring citizens that the Federal Government remains committed to upholding peace and justice. The President also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the people and government of Kaduna State.
