
In a tragic incident that has shocked Nigeria, 22 individuals have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of 12 wedding guests from Kaduna State in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The victims, all indigenes of Kaduna, were part of a group traveling to a wedding when they were intercepted and attacked by a mob on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State confirmed the arrests during a visit to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna on Monday, where he met with the surviving victims. Sani, visibly distressed, described the killings as “barbaric” and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.
The governor expressed his ongoing communication with Plateau’s Governor Caleb Mutfwang and President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the perpetrators face swift prosecution. He also praised the residents of Kaduna for maintaining peace in the face of such a heinous act. Sani called on leaders in Plateau to exercise restraint and prevent further violence, urging them to caution their people against carrying out such “dastardly acts.”
The victims, traveling from Zaria in Kaduna to attend a wedding in Quan Pan Local Government Area, were ambushed by the assailants in Mangun District. Initial reports indicate that the victims were killed instantly, while others sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Governor Sani reiterated his call for law enforcement agencies to act decisively, ensuring that those responsible for the attack face the full force of the law.
