President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering rural communities as key drivers of sustainable national development in a message marking the 2025 World Rural Development Day.
The global theme for this year’s observance “Rural Development: Resilience to Global Change” aligns with the Tinubu administration’s broader vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda to ensure that no Nigerian community is left behind.
In a statement released from the State House, President Tinubu described rural areas as the “bedrock upon which lasting national development is built,” stressing the importance of targeted policies and investments that enable rural populations to adapt and thrive in the face of growing global challenges.
He noted that climate change, economic instability, and communal conflicts continue to threaten the livelihoods of rural dwellers, adding that building resilience at the grassroots is essential to Nigeria’s inclusive growth and long-term stability.
As we mark World Rural Development Day 2025, we must collectively rise to the challenge of ensuring that our rural communities are not just supported but are fully equipped to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future, President Tinubu stated.
He called on all stakeholders including government, private sector and development partners to join hands in building a stronger, more resilient Nigeria through inclusive and equitable rural development strategies.
