Declaring open the 2025 National Conference on Public Accounts and Fiscal Governance in Abuja, President Tinubu, represented by Minister of State for Finance Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, emphasized that funds saved from fuel subsidy removal will be redirected to infrastructure, social safety nets, and economic reforms.

He highlighted the use of digital platforms like the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), and the Open Treasury Portal to enhance transparency and track public spending. The President described fiscal governance as essential to national development, noting that prosperity is impossible without transparency and sound resource management.

The conference brings together stakeholders from the National Assembly, government agencies, civil society, and the private sector to deliberate on strategies for promoting fiscal accountability and sustainable development. By strengthening the role of Public Accounts Committees and embracing digital reforms, the Tinubu administration continues to demonstrate its commitment to responsible governance and fiscal discipline.

The summit is expected to produce actionable recommendations that will strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal framework and contribute significantly to the country’s long-term development.
