Judith Amaechi, wife of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly denied allegations by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that she received ₦4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for women empowerment and training.
Describing the claim as “absurd and baseless,” Judith also dismissed Wike’s assertion that she was indicted in a corruption probe involving the NDDC. In a statement issued by her spokesperson, Dike Bekwele, she accused Wike of “subtle blackmail to score cheap political goals.”
The two political figures, Wike and Rotimi Amaechi, share a history as former governors of Rivers State, though their relationship has since soured. Wike had, in an interview earlier in July 2025, alleged that Judith received ₦48 billion over one year from the NDDC. Judith, however, maintained that the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), which she founded, only engaged in collaborative, co-funded capacity-building efforts with the NDDC and never received such funds.
She also challenged Wike to publish the NDDC forensic audit report that allegedly indicts her or the ESI. Should he fail to do so, she demanded his resignation as FCT Minister and a public apology to the nation.
