President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred national honours on Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their historic triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. The President received the victorious team and coaching staff at the Presidential Villa on Monday, praising their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage.”

In recognition of their outstanding achievement, President Tinubu awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) honour to all 24 players. He also announced three-bedroom apartments and a cash reward of $100,000 each for the players. Members of the technical crew will receive $50,000 each.

The gesture has been widely applauded as a bold move to recognize women’s football and inspire future generations. The Super Falcons’ win marked a historic moment, further cementing their status as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
