The Lagos State Government has commenced a major enforcement exercise against indiscriminate parking across the state. The operation, led by the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), officially began on Monday, July 28, 2025, starting at the State Secretariat, Alausa, and the Old Secretariat in Ikeja.
In a statement announcing the exercise, the Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, said the clampdown is aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving safety for road users, and creating a more orderly environment for business activities.
During Monday’s operation, LASPA’s monitoring team issued removal notices to vehicles found parked on kerbs, walkways, medians, and areas marked with “No Parking” signs. Some motorists were given a 24‑hour ultimatum to remove their vehicles or risk having them towed.
The agency has warned that the exercise will be extended to other parts of Lagos in the coming days and urged motorists to avoid illegal parking to avoid penalties.
