The Nigerian military has recorded another major breakthrough in its counter-insurgency campaign, with more than 76 fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), including senior commanders, surrendering to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the North-East.
The surrender followed sustained military offensives and intelligence-led operations that have intensified pressure on terrorist enclaves across the region. According to the military, the continued operations have disrupted the group’s command structure, logistics, and freedom of movement, forcing many fighters to abandon their camps.
Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the latest development underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, noting that several high-profile members of the terrorist network were among those who laid down their arms.
Military authorities disclosed that the surrendered insurgents, some accompanied by their family members, are undergoing profiling, debriefing, and other standard procedures in line with established protocols.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on remaining terrorist elements, stating that operations will continue until insurgents are either neutralised or persuaded to surrender. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
