The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, observed a solemn one minute silence in honour of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh during its meeting at the Presidential Villa. Chief Ogbeh, who passed away at the age of 78, served Nigeria with distinction in various capacities, including as Minister of Communications in the Second Republic and as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development between 2015 and 2019 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. He was also a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his tribute, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, described Chief Ogbeh as a patriotic Nigerian whose contributions to national development left an enduring legacy. The Council’s gesture reflected the high esteem in which he was held across the political spectrum and among the Nigerian people. His decades of service were marked by dedication to public duty, agricultural reform, and the pursuit of national unity.

Chief Ogbeh’s passing has drawn condolences from across the nation, including the Arewa Consultative Forum and the Northern Elders Forum, which lauded him as a committed statesman and nationalist. The FEC’s moment of silence under President Tinubu’s leadership served as both a tribute to his life and an acknowledgment of his role in shaping Nigeria’s political and economic landscape. His contributions remain a point of reference for integrity, commitment, and visionary leadership in public service.
