According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter Milan may abandon their pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and instead target Roma midfielder Manu Koné.
Talks with Atalanta have reportedly reached an impasse after Inter’s €45m offer, including add-ons, was rejected. Despite Lookman missing training, La Dea remain firm on a €50m asking price, whether selling within Italy or abroad.
Inter are now weighing “Plan B,” which could involve redeploying one of their current players — including Davide Frattesi, Piotr Zielinski, Petar Sucic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, or Nicola Zalewski — in the supporting role of their 3-4-2-1 formation. This would free up the funds earmarked for Lookman to strengthen another position, with Koné emerging as a potential target.
Koné, 24, joined Roma from Borussia Monchengladbach last year for €18m plus €2m in bonuses, scoring twice and providing three assists in 45 appearances. However, his fit under new coach Gian Piero Gasperini remains uncertain. The move is still at an exploratory stage, but it could signal Inter’s readiness to move on from the Lookman saga.
Meanwhile, PUNCH Sports Extra reports Inter have not given up entirely on Lookman, even as Atalanta pursue Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz. Sky Sport Italia claims Atalanta have submitted a €40m offer, including bonuses, for the Brazilian forward. Fulham, in turn, are said to be eyeing Inter’s Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi as a replacement if Muniz is sold.
However, Fulham reportedly want €45m for Muniz, while Atalanta continue to hold firm at €50m for Lookman — leaving all three deals hanging in the balance.
