President Tinubu Mourns Victims of Niger State Tanker Explosion, Pledges Enhanced Safety Measures

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Niger State following a tragic petrol tanker explosion on the Bida-Agaie-Lapai road, which claimed 48 lives and numerous livestock on Sunday. The accident, involving a truck loaded with cattle and passengers, also left several others injured, according to reports from the Niger Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, Tinubu extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased and injured, as well as to shop owners affected by the disaster. The President prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and praised federal and state emergency responders for their swift action.

He also commended the efforts of local citizens who assisted at the scene. Tinubu further directed federal agencies to collaborate with state governments to enhance road safety and prevent future tragedies.
