The suspect accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk will be formally charged in a Utah court on Tuesday, authorities confirmed. Kirk, a close ally of President Donald Trump and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot last week while addressing students at a Utah university.

Investigators allege that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson fired a single shot from a rooftop, striking Kirk in the neck. He was captured following a 33-hour manhunt. The killing has sent shockwaves through American politics, as Kirk was a father of two and a major voice in conservative youth movements, widely known for his strong opposition to transgender rights and viral clips from heated campus debates.

The case has also sparked controversy within federal law enforcement. FBI Director Kash Patel is set to testify before a Senate panel on Tuesday over his agency’s handling of the aftermath, including the mistaken arrest of a separate suspect hours after the shooting. Meanwhile, the White House has vowed to investigate what it called a “domestic terror movement” on the left, a move critics warn could risk being used to stifle dissent.
