President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the Nigeria Police Force Training Institutions Establishment Bill 2025, marking a major step toward strengthening police professionalism and capacity development across the country.

The new law provides for the establishment of specialized Police Training Institutes in various geo-political zones as designated by the National Assembly. These institutes will focus on improving discipline, operational efficiency, leadership skills, and modern policing techniques among officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the Presidency, the move reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to reforming internal security institutions, promoting human rights-based policing, and enhancing community trust in law enforcement. The initiative also aligns with the administration’s broader vision of creating a more professional, accountable, and citizen-focused Police Force capable of addressing emerging security challenges nationwide.
