LASTMA Wins Top Honour as Nigeria’s Best Traffic Management Agency at 2025 NITT Awards

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has been recognized as Nigeria’s Best State Traffic Management Agency at the 2025 Nigeria Transport & Logistics Leadership Summit and Awards, organized by the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT). The event took place on October 14, 2025, in Abuja.

The award, which followed a rigorous nomination and nationwide voting process, celebrates excellence and innovation in traffic management and transportation leadership across the country.

Receiving the award on behalf of LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, was Mr. Jubril Oshodi, the agency’s Director of Logistics and Transport. In his remarks, Oshodi dedicated the honour to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, applauding his unwavering support and investment in modernizing Lagos’s transport infrastructure.

He also commended the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, including the Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Permanent Secretary, for their continuous guidance and collaboration in ensuring safer and more efficient traffic management in Africa’s most populous city.

Speaking through a statement, General Manager Bakare-Oki described the award as “a distinguished honour and a call to elevated service.” He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to professionalism, innovation, and operational excellence, emphasizing the agency’s focus on technology-driven solutions, personnel training, and stakeholder partnerships to improve traffic flow and road safety across Lagos.

The 2025 NITT Leadership Awards brought together top figures in Nigeria’s transportation sector, including the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, and the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who commended LASTMA for its consistency and effectiveness in managing traffic within the complex Lagos metropolis.

The recognition underscores LASTMA’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable urban mobility and reinforces Lagos’s leadership in transport management among Nigeria’s 36 states.
