Naira Holds Steady at ₦1,475/$ as Market Confidence Grows

The Naira remained stable on Monday, trading at ₦1,475.35/$ in the official window, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The rate reflects a mild 0.29% dip from ₦1,471.02/$ last week, signaling ongoing calm in the foreign exchange market.

In the parallel market, the Naira traded around ₦1,455/$, narrowing the gap with the official rate to about ₦20 its tightest margin in months.

Analysts attribute the steadiness to rising foreign exchange inflows, stronger external reserves now above US$43 billion, and a decline in speculative trading. Recent CBN policies aimed at improving transparency and liquidity have also supported the local currency.

However, experts caution that the stability could be temporary, as oil price shifts or reduced inflows may renew pressure on the Naira.
