Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to girl-child education, highlighting initiatives like the school feeding programme to ensure children are well-nourished and ready to learn. He assured development partners that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to empowering girls and promoting inclusivity nationwide.

In a symbolic move, Shettima invited 16-year-old Joy Ogah to take over his seat for a day. Speaking from the Vice President’s chair, Ogah drew attention to the 10.5 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, most of whom are girls, and called for safe, inclusive learning environments, access to sanitation, and policies that protect and empower every girl.

Representatives of PLAN International highlighted their work supporting over 11 million children through education, entrepreneurship, and youth development. Shettima also praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as a role model and assured the delegation that the government will continue collaborating with partners to expand access to education, protection, and leadership opportunities for girls.
