Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will be aiming to make history when Galatasaray face Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 26-year-old currently shares the club record for scoring in the most consecutive European matches — six — alongside former Galatasaray forward Burak Yilmaz, who set the mark in 2012. A goal against Bodo/Glimt at RAMS Park would see Osimhen stand alone as the record holder.
Osimhen had a standout campaign last season, scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists in 41 games before signing a permanent four-year deal with the Turkish giants in August. This season, he has scored three goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
His scoring streak in Europe includes goals against Tottenham Hotspur, AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev, and Ajax in the Europa League last season. He then extended it in the Champions League with a decisive goal in Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in their last outing.
Although an ankle injury sidelined him for Galatasaray’s Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt, he returned in time to continue his scoring run versus Liverpool.
Osimhen featured for just 12 minutes in Galatasaray’s recent Super Lig match against Istanbul Basaksehir, having scored a hat-trick for Nigeria against Benin during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Galatasaray, coached by Okan Buruk, currently sit 21st in the Champions League standings with one win and one defeat from their first two matches.
Following their victory over Liverpool, the Turkish champions drew 1-1 with Besiktas and then secured a 2-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir, inspired by a Leroy Sané brace. Domestically, Galatasaray are dominant — winning 19 of their last 20 matches — and sit five points clear at the top of the Super Lig as they chase a third straight league title alongside the Türkiye Kupası.
However, their strong domestic form hasn’t fully translated to Europe, with the Liverpool win being just their second victory in their last 19 Champions League group-stage games.
Their opponents, Bodo/Glimt, are competing in the Champions League for the first time but are unbeaten so far, drawing 2-2 against both Slavia Prague and Tottenham Hotspur after surrendering two-goal leads in each encounter.
The Norwegian side head into Wednesday’s match after a 5-2 win over Sarpsborg in the Eliteserien, where they sit second, just one point behind the leaders with a game in hand.
