The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected bandits during a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Shanono Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended at about 2:00 a.m. on Friday following credible intelligence received by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in collaboration with the Shanono Divisional Police Headquarters.

The two suspects, believed to be members of a network linked with bandits operating from neighbouring states, were allegedly attempting to infiltrate Kano communities before their arrest.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the vigilance of residents in the affected area and urged the public to continue providing timely information that could help security agencies prevent crime.

He reiterated the commitment of the Kano State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the group.

In a related development, the Command has also deployed additional personnel to Barebari Ward in Makoda Local Government Area to forestall further clashes between herders and farmers, while peace talks are being coordinated by local authorities.

The Police Command assured that all necessary measures are being taken to sustain peace and prevent any form of criminal infiltration into the state.
