Nigerian strikers Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu will face off on Saturday when Galatasaray host Trabzonspor in a top-of-the-table clash at Rams Park, Istanbul.

The reigning champions currently sit atop the Turkish Super Lig with 28 points, remaining unbeaten this season alongside Fenerbahçe, while Trabzonspor trail with 23 points. Even with a defeat, Galatasaray will stay first, though a slip-up could allow Fenerbahçe to overtake Trabzonspor in the standings.

Both Osimhen and Onuachu — key figures for their clubs and for Nigeria’s Super Eagles — are expected to play decisive roles in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Osimhen, who scored 26 league goals for Galatasaray during his loan spell last season, has had a modest start to the new campaign after joining permanently. According to Transfermarkt, he has netted three goals in seven league matches, having missed three fixtures through injury. However, he has been in fine form in the UEFA Champions League, scoring three goals in two games, including match-winners against Liverpool and Bodo/Glimt.

Onuachu, meanwhile, rejoined Trabzonspor permanently in January 2025 following a successful loan from Southampton. The towering striker has been in sensational form, scoring seven goals and providing one assist, earning two Goals of the Month awards.

Although Onuachu has the stronger form this season, Osimhen’s record as a “big-game player” could make the difference on Saturday.

Historically, Galatasaray have dominated the fixture, winning 30 matches, while Trabzonspor have claimed 14 victories, with 10 draws between them.

Off the pitch, Osimhen is set to feature in a €2 million commercial deal for the Next Level Kemer real estate project in Istanbul, developed by Pasifik GYO. The announcement was made by Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek during a sponsor launch event, where he also revealed that the project’s sponsors contributed to financing Osimhen’s high-profile transfer.

“Pasifik Holding and Galatasaray are in ongoing discussions to strengthen our collaboration,” Özbek said. “We’re working on infrastructure projects in Kemerburgaz and exploring opportunities for our players to invest in real estate under favourable terms. Pasifik Holding will produce a commercial featuring Victor Osimhen for the Next Level project, with a contribution of about €2 million as part of our agreement.”

Osimhen’s €75 million transfer from Napoli has already proven highly profitable for Galatasaray. According to Turkish outlet Sportx, his performances and commercial influence have earned the club an estimated €31 million in revenue from both football and sponsorship ventures.
