
The Federal Government’s ambition to position Nigeria as a maritime hub received a boost following the official handover of a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for 90 hectares of land in Oyo State for the development of the Moniya Inland Dry Port.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Olufemi Oloruntola, who received the documents on behalf of the Federal Government, described the gesture as a demonstration of partnership and shared vision between the Federal and State Governments to expand economic opportunities through modern trade.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Anastasia Ogbonna, the Permanent Secretary noted that the Moniya Inland Dry Port would serve as a strategic national project, bringing shipping services closer to both importers and exporters. The initiative is expected to stimulate industrial and agricultural growth across the South-West region.
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Abdul-Raheem Lawal, commended the Federal Government for its commitment to developing vital transport infrastructure nationwide and reiterated the state’s unwavering support for the project.
