Nigeria Up-to-Date on Debt Payments – Finance Minister Refutes Bloomberg Report

The Nigerian government has refuted claims that it has defaulted on its debt obligations. Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has confirmed that Nigeria has no outstanding debt payments. According to the minister, “Nigeria does not owe anyone at the moment. We have enough liquidity to meet all our obligations.”

Director General of the Debt Management Office (DMO), Patience Oniha, backed this up, stating that all due payments had been processed by the Central Bank of Nigeria as of September 19. She further clarified that the payment due on September 20 is currently being processed, ensuring timely and complete payment.

This directly counters the Bloomberg report alleging delayed payments and affirms Nigeria’s commitment to meeting all financial obligations on time.
