Vice President Kashim Shettima Arrives in New York for 79th UN General Assembly

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has arrived in New York to represent the country at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). His arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport in the early hours of Monday was confirmed in a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.

Upon landing, Vice President Shettima was warmly welcomed by a delegation that included Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani; the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa; as well as Nigerian diplomats, UN officials, and other dignitaries.

In line with directives from President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the global summit, where he is scheduled to deliver the country’s national statement. He will also participate in various high-level meetings, engaging with global leaders on matters of international significance.

The 79th session of the UNGA is a crucial platform for global leaders to address pressing world issues, including climate change, economic development, peace and security, and digital innovation. Nigeria’s participation under Vice President Shettima’s leadership is expected to reinforce the country’s stance on key global challenges, while promoting its interests on the world stage.
