Kwankwaso’s Ally Abdulmumin Jibrin Returns to APC Two Months After NNPP Expulsion

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Kiru/Bebeji constituency of Kano State, has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) two months after his expulsion from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Jibrin, a close ally of NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was expelled from the party in September over allegations of anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues.

His defection marks another significant shift in Kano’s political landscape, where alliances have continued to evolve following the 2023 general elections.

Jibrin had previously played a key role in Kwankwaso’s political movement, particularly in mobilizing support for the NNPP across northern Nigeria. His return to the APC signals a possible realignment ahead of upcoming political contests in the state and at the national level.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Jibrin nor Kwankwaso has publicly commented on the development.
