Nigerian Airlines Reject $11.50 Passenger Fee

Nigerian airlines have rejected a proposed $11.50 fee on international passengers, set to take effect on 1 December 2025.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) plans to introduce the charge to fund its Advance Passenger Information System (APIS). The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) said the fee would add unnecessary financial pressure amid rising operational costs and declining passenger affordability.

Industry experts warn the fee could increase ticket prices and reduce demand, while airlines may seek legal or regulatory remedies before it is enforced.

The NCAA has not yet responded to the objections.
