Nigeria has made history at the COP30 Climate Summit by launching Africa’s first-ever digital emissions-monitoring model, a major step forward in the country’s drive toward maritime decarbonisation.
The innovative system is designed to track, analyse, and report greenhouse gas emissions in real time, enabling more accurate compliance with global environmental standards.
According to officials, the platform will support the maritime sector in reducing carbon intensity, improving transparency, and strengthening Nigeria’s commitment to international climate goals.
The model also aligns with efforts to modernise port operations and promote sustainable shipping across the continent.
