The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to establish an Emergency Response Fund aimed at combating gender-based violence (GBV) and providing immediate support to survivors.

The initiative is designed to ensure rapid intervention for victims, including access to medical care, psychological support, legal assistance, and rehabilitation services. Government officials noted that the fund will also support community awareness programs and prevention strategies to address the root causes of GBV across the country.

Speaking on the initiative, a government spokesperson emphasized the administration’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, promoting gender equality, and ensuring that survivors receive timely assistance. The fund is expected to strengthen collaboration between federal agencies, state governments, civil society organizations, and international partners to create a more coordinated response to gender-based violence.
