The Nigerian Senate is set to consider President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nominee for Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, at Wednesday’s plenary session.

A statement from the office of the Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, confirmed that the Senate has received President Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of the nominee.

According to the statement, the letter will be read on the Senate floor on Wednesday, after which the screening of General Musa is expected to commence immediately.

Opeyemi Bamidele emphasized that the Senate cannot delay action on the request at this critical time, given that the defence portfolio touches the core interests of the nation.
