The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 18 chairmanship seats and the 192 councillorship positions contested in the Edo State local government elections.
The Chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Jonathan Aifuobhokhan, announced the results during a news conference in Benin City.
According to the commission, the elections were conducted across the state’s 18 local government areas and 192 wards in line with the Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and other applicable regulations.
EDSIEC said the accreditation, voting, sorting, counting, collation and declaration of results were carried out successfully, with APC candidates emerging victorious in all contested positions.
The commission noted that while minor operational challenges were recorded in a few locations, they did not significantly affect the overall conduct or outcome of the elections.
EDSIEC also commended election officials and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the successful conduct of the polls.
