Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asked Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to table any evidence she has regarding her sexual-harassment allegations in court instead of making claims on social media. In a statement released by his media aide, Jackson Udom, Akpabio said Natasha’s accusations remain unproven and have never been backed by evidence before any panel or authority.
He explained that the defamation suit he filed against her was initiated several months ago, contrary to her suggestion that it was recently instituted. According to him, court officials made several attempts to serve her the processes but were unsuccessful, leading the court to approve substituted service.
Akpabio criticised what he described as “public drama,” insisting that issues of this nature should be handled through proper legal channels and not turned into social-media debates.
Natasha, on her part, has confirmed receiving the suit and said she is ready to present her case before the court, adding that the legal process will give her the opportunity she was previously denied before the Senate Ethics Committee.
The matter is now before the FCT High Court in Abuja, and both sides are preparing for the legal battle that will determine the next phase of the controversy.
