Taiwo Oyedele, chairman of the Presidential Committee on Tax Reforms and Fiscal Policy, has raised concerns over Nigeria’s tax system, describing it as “completely broken.”

Oyedele highlighted that compared to other countries, most Nigerians are largely unaware of tax matters. He further emphasized that the current system disproportionately affects the nation’s poorest citizens.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions on tax reforms aimed at improving compliance, broadening the tax base, and ensuring a fairer taxation system across the country.
