Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has expressed concerns over Nigeria’s electoral process, stating that election outcomes in the country are not entirely determined by voters.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television, Tambuwal attributed the situation to systemic weaknesses, compromises by electoral officials, and the deliberate exploitation of loopholes by politicians. He noted that these factors have continued to undermine the credibility of elections in the country.

According to the senator, the distortion of voters’ choices often occurs at different stages of the electoral process, including polling units, wards, local governments, states, and final collation centres. He maintained that irregularities during collation play a significant role in altering the true outcome of elections.

Tambuwal stressed the need for comprehensive reforms to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and ensure that election results genuinely reflect the will of the electorate.
