
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official postings of 65 ambassadors—comprising 31 non-career and 34 career diplomats—to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world.
The appointments include former lawmakers, senior government officials, and experienced career diplomats who will represent Nigeria in key bilateral and multilateral missions, including the United Nations.
Among the non-career ambassadors, Senator Grace Bent has been posted to Lomé, Togo, while former presidential aide Senator Ita Enang will serve in South Africa. Former Abia State governor Ikpeazu Victor has been assigned to Spain, and media personality Reno Omokri will represent Nigeria in Mexico City, Mexico.
Other notable postings include former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines, former Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd) to Beijing, China, and former Minister of Health Prof. Isaak Folorunso Adewole to Ottawa, Canada. Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has been posted to Germany, while businessman Senator Jimoh Ibrahim will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Lateef Kayode Are has been assigned to the United States, Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom, and Ayodele Oke to France. Senator Nora Ladi Daduut will represent Nigeria in Seoul, South Korea, while Yakubu N. Gambo has been posted to Saudi Arabia.
The President also approved the deployment of 34 career ambassadors to several countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. These include Ambassador Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Besto Maimuna Ibrahim to Niamey, Niger, and Monica Okwuchukwu Enebechi to São Tomé and Príncipe.
Other postings include Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algiers, Algeria, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Cairo, Egypt, Ambassador Jane Adams (née Okon) Michael to Kingston, Jamaica, and Ambassador Clark-Omeru Alexandra to Lusaka, Zambia.
Additional assignments include Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to New Delhi, India, Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Dakar, Senegal, Ambassador Shehu Ilu Barde to Accra, Ghana, and Ambassador Haidara Mohammed Idris to The Hague, Netherlands.
Ambassador Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel will serve in Brussels, Belgium, Ambassador Akande Wahab Adekola in Berne, Switzerland, and Ambassador Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru in Bangkok, Thailand, among other postings.
The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and international cooperation across strategic regions of the world. The ambassadors will assume their duties following the completion of the necessary diplomatic formalities and briefings by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
