The Nigerian Senate has screened and confirmed Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance. The confirmation came on Wednesday, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request to the Senate just 24 hours earlier for approval of Oyedele’s nomination.
Oyedele, 50, an economist, accountant, and public policy expert from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, previously chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.
He brings over two decades of experience, having spent 22 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) from 2001, rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Upon being sworn in by the President, Oyedele will succeed Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has been redeployed as Minister of State for Budget.
