As Minister Appoints First Lady Champion of Energise Commercialisation Programme
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, has announced that the Ministry will commence a programme titled “Energise Commercialisation.” He made this disclosure during a visit to the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the State House, Abuja.
Dr. Udeh explained that the visit was to inform the First Lady of the Ministry’s decision to appoint her as the Champion of the Energise Commercialisation Programme. According to him, the initiative aims to transform Nigeria from a technology-importing nation into a technology-innovating nation.
The Minister noted that the programme will strengthen the capabilities of Nigerian youths, particularly those with commercially viable inventions and innovations. Sensitisation efforts for the programme have already begun, and it will soon be taken across all states of the federation, led by the First Lady as the Champion.
Dr. Udeh further stated that the initiative will reach schools at all levels and communities across the country, including individuals with innovative ideas who may not have formal education. The meeting between the Minister and the First Lady was held behind closed doors, signalling the imminent commencement of the Energise Commercialisation Programme, which will primarily target youths and women.
