A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed May 26, 2026, for the Department of State Services (DSS) to commence its case in the alleged terrorism trial involving former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz.

At Wednesday’s sitting, the prosecution informed the court that it had filed an amended five-count charge, replacing the earlier one. Following this development, the court struck out the initial charge and ordered that the defendants take fresh pleas.

Both Abubakar Malami and his son pleaded not guilty to the amended charges, which border on allegations of preparing to commit acts of terrorism through unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition in Kebbi State.

Counsel to the defendants did not oppose the commencement of trial but urged the court to allow them to remain on the bail earlier granted, a request that was not opposed by the prosecution.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik thereafter adjourned the matter to May 26 and June 15, 2026, for trial, while ordering that the defendants remain on their existing bail conditions.

The DSS is expected to open its case at the next adjourned date as proceedings continue.
