Vice President Kashim Shettima has extolled the legacy of the late Sir Israel Chinwuba Ogbue, father-in-law of Chairman of Heirs Holdings/UBA Group, Tony Elumelu, saying he lived a life well spent and planted values that are visible in the lives of his children.

Shettima stated this on Saturday when he led a Federal Government delegation to the funeral ceremony of the late Pa Ogbue in Onicha-Olona community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the family of the deceased, the people of Onicha-Olona, and the government and people of Delta State, describing the late Ogbue as a man whose life reflected strength, gratitude, and grace.

According to him, the fact that Pa Ogbue was the only surviving child of his parents reflected a depth of resilience and strength, noting that he lived with gratitude and made peace with life.

The Vice President said the burial was not only a moment of grief but also a celebration of a life of meaning, service, and legacy that would outlive generations.

He also noted that the late Ogbue’s wisdom and calm leadership played a stabilising role in key moments, adding that he believed in balance, moderation, and contentment in life.

The ceremony attracted dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria who came to sympathise with the Elumelu and Ogbue families.

The Vice President also paid a condolence visit to the Elumelu family country home, where he was conferred with the traditional title of Odoziani 1 of Aniocha, meaning “the one who restores the glory of the land,” in recognition of his service, leadership, and contributions to society.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa; Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu; members of the House of Representatives; and other dignitaries.
