Mali’s Defence Minister, Sadio Camara, has been killed following coordinated attacks carried out on Saturday by an alliance of insurgents and Azbinawa rebels across the country.

The attackers reportedly struck multiple locations, including the capital, Bamako, and nearby towns. Camara was said to have been killed at his residence in Kati, a key military hub just outside the capital.

Security sources indicate that the assault formed part of a wider offensive by armed groups linked to extremist factions, marking one of the most significant escalations of violence in recent months.

Authorities are yet to release a comprehensive official statement, but military operations have reportedly intensified in response to the attacks. The development raises fresh concerns over stability in Mali as security forces continue to confront insurgent threats across the country.
