The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to resolve post-primary disputes and prevent internal crises in at least seven states following the conclusion of its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s national leadership is engaging stakeholders and aggrieved aspirants in states including Kwara, Nasarawa, Rivers, Adamawa, Benue, Bauchi, and Taraba to address grievances arising from the conduct and outcomes of the primaries. Party officials are seeking to foster reconciliation and maintain unity ahead of the submission of candidates’ names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Sources within the party said the APC leadership is determined to prevent defections and ensure that disagreements do not affect its preparations for the 2027 elections. Reconciliation committees have reportedly been activated to engage dissatisfied members and encourage them to remain committed to the party.
The move comes amid growing concerns over tensions generated by the party’s candidate selection process in some states, where aspirants and supporters have raised objections to the outcomes of the primaries. Party leaders, however, expressed confidence that ongoing consultations and dialogue would help restore calm and strengthen party cohesion.
The APC has repeatedly emphasized the need for unity and discipline among its members as it prepares for the next electoral cycle, assuring stakeholders that all concerns would be addressed through established party mechanisms.
