The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has directed the immediate strengthening of security measures around schools across Katsina State, as part of efforts to prevent attacks and ensure a safer learning environment for students and teachers.

According to police authorities, the directive was issued during an operational visit and conveyed to the Katsina State Police Command for urgent implementation. The order emphasizes increased police visibility and stronger coordination in and around educational institutions.

Under the new directive, the police are expected to intensify patrols around schools, improve intelligence gathering, and deploy additional personnel to vulnerable areas. Security agencies have also been tasked with enhancing surveillance systems and responding quickly to any threats within school environments.

Officials say the move is aimed at curbing rising security risks affecting schools in parts of northern Nigeria, where concerns over attacks and abductions have prompted renewed attention to school protection strategies. Authorities also urged school administrators to strengthen access control measures and work closely with security agencies to report suspicious activity early.

The directive is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to reinforce the Safe Schools initiative and improve the safety of learning institutions nationwide. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
