President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies following a successful operation in Kogi State that led to the neutralisation of a notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji.

The President described the development as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against criminal elements terrorising communities in Kogi and neighbouring states. He said Bastuji’s activities—including killings, kidnapping and violent attacks—had inflicted severe hardship on residents, adding that his elimination would help restore public confidence and security in the affected areas.

President Tinubu praised the troops for their courage and professionalism, stressing that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that no part of the country is ceded to criminal groups. He reaffirmed that security forces will continue to receive the necessary support, training and equipment to sustain operations against banditry and other violent crimes.

In a separate operation, the President also commended the rescue of the widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), describing it as a demonstration of effective intelligence coordination and gallantry by the security forces. He said the safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar brought relief to her family and Nigerians at large.

President Tinubu urged citizens to support security agencies with timely and credible information, noting that collective cooperation remains essential in the fight against insecurity across the country.
