FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU MARKS 2026 DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD, CALLS FOR IMPROVED WATER AND SANITATION FOR CHILDREN

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has joined Nigerians and the African continent in commemorating the 2026 Day of the African Child, calling for stronger commitment to child welfare and improved access to basic social amenities.

In her message on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the First Lady aligned with this year’s theme, “Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene for every child in Africa,” stressing that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene remains fundamental to the health, dignity, education, and overall development of children across the continent.

She emphasized the need for collective action to build child-friendly communities, strengthen public health systems, and ensure safe environments that enable every child to thrive and reach their full potential.

Senator Tinubu also extended her goodwill message, wishing children across Nigeria and Africa a happy 2026 Day of the African Child.
