Vice President Kashim Shettima has flagged off the distribution of fertiliser under the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) initiative, aimed at supporting farmers across Nigeria ahead of the new farming season.

The flag-off ceremony, which marked a major step in the Federal Government’s agricultural intervention strategy, underscored efforts to strengthen food production, reduce dependency on imports, and enhance national food security. Shettima noted that the initiative was designed to ensure that fertiliser and other critical farm inputs are made available to genuine farmers at the right time and at affordable rates.

He further explained that the programme reflects the administration’s broader commitment to revitalising the agricultural sector as a key driver of economic growth, rural development, and job creation. According to him, improving access to inputs such as fertiliser will significantly boost crop yields and support Nigeria’s drive towards self-sufficiency in food production.

The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) intervention is expected to reach farmers across all regions of the country, with emphasis on equitable distribution and transparency in the process. The initiative is also part of ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural value chains and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers nationwide.
