Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued five kidnap victims following coordinated air and ground operations against terrorist hideouts in Kogi State.

The operation, conducted by troops of the Forward Operating Base, Oshokoshoko, was launched after an intelligence-led air interdiction mission targeted a known terrorist enclave within the Adankolo Forest axis.

According to the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, soldiers deployed on a blocking mission along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route intercepted the five victims after they were abandoned by fleeing terrorists under sustained military pressure.

The victims were immediately evacuated to a secure location and taken to a military medical facility for treatment and assessment.

Military authorities said the rescued individuals are currently undergoing debriefing to provide information that could support ongoing operations aimed at locating and dismantling remaining terrorist elements in the area.

The Commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, reaffirming the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal groups operating within the region.

He also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to enhance security across the state.

The latest operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s continued efforts to combat kidnapping and restore peace and security in communities affected by criminal activities across Kogi State. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
